About JustHealth

Founded in 1995 and incorporated in 1996 as the California Consumer Health Care Council, JustHealth is dedicated to building a just health care system. In its fourteen-year history, JustHealth has provided assistance to thousands of individuals and organizations that have faced injustice in the health care system.

Ensuring that laws that were designed to protect consumers and providers are fully and faithfully enforced, is central to JustHealth's purpose.

Our Mission

JustHealth's mission is to create a just healthcare system.

We work to accomplish this by:

  1. Being an advocate for consumers and providers in every available forum;
  2. Taking action to protect consumers and providers from dangerous, deceptive, dishonest, unfair or unlawful conduct;
  3. Proposing and supporting legislation and regulations that will foster a just healthcare system; and
  4. Educating the public about the true state of the current healthcare system.
JustHealth assists patients and providers faced with dangerous, deceptive, dishonest, unfair or unlawful conduct by insurance companies, doctors, hospitals, and others in our healthcare system and helps move us towards a more just healthcare system.

JustHealth has drafted and supported legislation and regulations to protect patients and providers. For example, we: assisted California policymakers in developing The California Insurance Fair Claims Practices Regulations; filed the Managed Care/Health Insurer Honesty & Accountability Act.

We have submitted “Friend of the Court” briefs in State and Federal courts all over the country, including the U.S. Supreme Court, to educate the courts about fundamental injustices in our healthcare system that affects the lives of millions of Americans. JustHealth has also acted as a plaintiff in actions designed to protect the rights of large numbers of consumers and providers across the United States.

We provide information and stories to local, state, national and international media outlets and legislators and regulators, to help educate the public about the true state of our current healthcare system and options for creating a more just healthcare system.
