Dateline NBC - Health Insurer Hell
Dateline NBC has devoted one hour to its undercover documentary showing, in real-time, how sick patents are often ruthlessly denied care by their health insurer because the families lack legal leverage.
Consumer Watchdog worked closely with Dateline on the show. I expect it to be a powerful hour that dramatically demonstrates the need for greater reforms to give all patients the same legal remedies against health insurers.
Today 132 million patients, those who have health insurance through a private employer, simply don't have the legal leverage to get health insurers to pay attention to their needs. It's time to even the playing field. You'll be hearing more in the coming days about that movement but tonight's hour is an important beginning.
